Al-Hamdulillah, wa Sallallah wa Sallama `Ala Sayyidina Rasulillah, wa Alihi wa Sahbihi wa Man Walah, Wa Ba`du;
I have submitted my official resignation letter as Chairman, Islamic Outreach ABIM, to ABIM’s Secretary General, with a requested effective date of August 31, 2011. The representatives from ABIM’s Central Executive Committee have recently met with the staff to discuss moving forward; under their leadership, a transition plan will be charted.
I am deeply humbled by the experience I have had at the helm of Islamic Outreach ABIM during the last five years. The team of staff and network of volunteers is, I believe, the strongest it has ever been. Despite all its shortcomings and weaknesses, I am confident that this organization will continue to be successful and committed to its core values: integrity, accountability, transparency, stewardship of resources and donor-centred development.
I also believe that Islamic Outreach ABIM is well positioned to confront the contemporary challenges – to contribute moving ideas, to promote meaningful changes, and to influence how people and institutions respond to the issues around them. To do this the future leadership needs to build on its successes and use them to achieve even more – through what we have summarized as “Inviting, Sharing, and Giving“.
I pray that Allah the Most Exalted will accept our good deeds and forgive me for all my past mistakes and weaknesses during my tenure. With the successful conclusion of the IOA Ramadhan Appeal and Charity campaign, I have decided that this is the right time for me to move forward. I wish all the volunteers the best in their future endeavours and may Allah the Most Exalted continue to bless them with the sincerity and strength in discharging their voluntary duties.
I look forward to contributing to other areas in Islamic work, pursuing knowledge and spending quality time with my family and close friends.
