Alhamdulillah. All praise is for Allah (Subhana wa Ta’ala) and may His peace and blessings be on the Final Messenger Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), his family and those who follow him in goodness until the Day of Judgement.
30th April 2012. I feel truly grateful to Allah (Subhana wa Ta’ala) for blessing me with yet another year of a generally good health and peacefulness. At this age, I feel (and I believe many of my contemporaries would feel the same) like arriving at some strange, unremarkable halfway position because we feel not exactly old, but not as youthful and energetic as we once were. Perhaps due to my punishing schedule, and my continuing back pain as a result of the recurring prolapsed disc, at times I am demonstrating that depressing mood as an older person.
Well, I don’t ever have loud, boisterous birthday partying anyways, so it is not as if I am missing much. Therefore, this day will pass uneventfully. I am pretty convinced true happiness and contentment will eventually manifest itself when the time is right.
I remind myself of a wise saying “What we pursue after with the wrong foundations, we often don’t get. What we don’t chase after we often get, but fail to be grateful for”. How true.
For those of you who remembered me in your prayers to Allah (Subhana wa Ta’ala) on my birthday, thank you and I am grateful for your presence in my life.
