Alhamdulillah. I am 40 years old today. 

The toughest part of my life was the passing of my mother in 1991 and what followed. My parents were already no longer around when I turned 34. Now that I’m through the other side, it is all sacred to me. It is part of who I am. It is in my blood and spirit, my dreams, my eyes, my worldview.

It transformed me.

39 years old today

Alhamdulillah. I am 39 years old today.

I seek a life full of Allah’s beneficent force that flows through the physical and spiritual spheres as prosperity, protection, and happiness; I seek good health and a tranquil heart. I could feel it in my heart that the next one year is going to be much heart-shaping, foundational year that the remaining years of my life and influence will be built upon. My prayer too at this moment, “Dear Allah the Almighty, make me part of those You can trust to lead and impact a generation. Let it be so this year, dear Allah. Let it be so.”

Towards Consensus

In 2006, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, published a collection of speeches under the title, “Islam Hadhari: A Model Approach for Development and Progress”. In his third chapter, “Islam, Malaysia, and the Wider World”, he declares that civilizational dialogue cannot succeed without conflict resolution, which is at the forefront of the Malaysian government’s efforts.
