PADA 7 Mac 2012, Majlis Hak Asasi Manusia Pertubuhan Bangsa-bangsa Bersatu (PBB) telah menganjurkan suatu panel perbincangan berkenaan “Diskriminasi dan Keganasan berdasarkan Orientasi Seksual dan Identiti Gender” yang berlangsung sebagai sebahagian acara tahunan sesi ke 19 Majlis Hak Asasi Manusia di  Geneva, Switzerland. Panel tersebut telah mendapat bantahan daripada Kumpulan Negara OIC bagi Hak Asasi Manusia, yang telah mengirim sepucuk surat kepada Presiden Majlis Hak Asasi Manusia PBB, Laura Dupuy Lasserre bagi menyatakan kebimbangan negara-negara OIC terhadap usaha untuk memperkenalkan di dalam Deklarasi Universal Hak Asasi Manusia (UDHR) terma-terma serta standard-standard berkenaan Orientasi Seksual dan identiti Gender (SOGI) yang asing di dalam “bahasa” dan “penerimaan nilai-nilai sejagat” berkenaan hak Lesbian, Gay, Biseksual dan Transeksual.

Malaysia‘s Second Evaluation under the Universal Periodic Review Process, Human Rights Council, Geneva

The coalition of Islamic NGOs in the UPR process (MuslimUPRo) will be sending a small delegation of observers to the UPR session involving Malaysia at the Human Rights Council, Geneva, Switzerland on 24th October 2013. Prior to this, it was the first time that the Islamic Non-Government Organisations were officially invited by Wisma Putra, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to attend a consultancy process for the preparation of a Malaysian national report to the Universal Periodic Review of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
