Ramadhan Reflections 1432H

What’s next after Ramadhan? Qibla Teachers Pitch in (Source: Qibla Monthly)

Shaykh Qays Arthur:

“This Ramadhan has reached mankind in general and the Muslims in particular in a state of upheaval and disquiet, economically and politically. Allah tells us that when men are corrupt, corruption becomes apparent on earth and in societies as a sign to remind us of the greater next-worldly consequences so that we may return to the right way.

The real Islamophobia

It is not Osama, or even the universal celebration of his supposed capture.

It is the twenty American states considering a legal ban on Shari’ah activities, including legal penalties for operating businesses according to Shari’ah law. It has been described as ‘a discriminatory and wholly unfounded idea‘. How this can be in a supposedly “free country” is a great mystery. Continue reading

Being in the company of the Righteous

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) told us that the blessing of Allah the Most Exalted is with those who gather and work as a unified front (jama’a) for the cause of Islam. In a hadith Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Allah’s hand is upon the jama’a.’ (Tirmidhi.) Continue reading

“Pray to Allah for forgiveness”

Imam Ahmad Bin Hanbal, a renowned scholar of Islam and a famous theologian, is also considered to be the founder of the Hanbali school of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and is one of the most celebrated Sunni theologians, often referred to as the “Sheikh ul-Islam” or the “Imam of Ahl al-Sunnah.” Continue reading

The most beautiful prayer by Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)

This is from a mailing list I belong to:

As was the custom with the tribes of Arabia prior to Islam, people’s allegiances were to tribes under whose protection one was, which meant other tribes, particularly less influential ones, would avoid entering into a feud with anyone from a more noble tribe. The Prophet (s) belonged to the most noble of them all, the tribe of Quraysh, and within that tribe, the noble tribe of Bani Hashim.

There is relief and wisdom in hardship

Recently, I had to undergo epidural lysis procedure as a treatment for my back pain due to prolapsed discs.

The procedure was to help decrease chronic low back pain due to adhesions and scar tissue formation. The physician inserts a catheter into the epidural space in order to access the area of adhesions. This is usually done through the caudal canal, which is located at the base of the spine, via the sacral hiatus (quoting the surgeon’s exact words). The sacral hiatus is a natural opening in the spine near the tailbone. Aided by real-time X-ray imaging, the catheter can be seen on the monitor and directed precisely to the affected nerve root. Once the tip of the catheter is in place, medication can be injected to relieve pain at the source and dissipate the scar tissue.
